launches electronic disaster loan application August
13, 2008 — Disaster victims may now go online to file an application for
recovery assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Jovita Carranza,
acting administrator, announced today. The
electronic loan application can be accessed via SBA's secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/ Homeowners
and renters who suffer damages to their homes and personal property following a
declared disaster may apply for disaster loan assistance online. Businesses and
non-profit organizations can go online to apply for assistance to cover losses
to real estate and property, as well as economic injury. Surf
to our Show Notes for a link to this application.
U.S.
electronic health record standards agreed U.S.
consumer groups, insurers and privacy advocates together with Google Inc. and
Microsoft Corp. said recently, that they have agreed to standards intended to
speed adoption of personal electronic health records. The
electronic medical record field remains in its infancy. While U.S. privacy laws
govern actions by medical providers like doctors, there is little in the way of
other established privacy, security and data usage standards despite decades of
industry effort. Backers,
which also include some doctors and employer groups, said they hope to break a
stalemate in moving medical records online, sparked by consumer fears that their
personal information will be abused, or held against them. Experts
lament the fragmented nature of the health care system, where most doctors still
use paper records, and most patients do not have access to their own personal
health information. Both
Microsoft and Google have a financial interest in this topic, as Microsoft has
their HealthVault platform; Google has their Google Health Platform. http://www.chiroeco.com/chiropractic/news/4761/54/us-electronic-health-record-standards-agreed/ DC
offers help for burnt out workers and executives Recent
studies have shown that productivity and overall morale can be improved quite
simply by small additions to the workplace. These
simple suggestions have been proven to help employees better enjoy their workday
and therefore become much more productive. Dr.
Paul Lanthois, Director of the Work Life Balance Foundation (www.WorkLifeBalanceFoundation.com
) and chiropractor with 17 years of experience, has developed a step-by-step
process to recharge the weary and re-ignite the burned-out. These
steps include the following topics:

incorporated into Veteran's Health Administration The
Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) has taken steps to incorporate and
expand chiropractic into its healthcare system. As
the largest healthcare system in the U.S., boasting more than 7.9 million
enrolled veterans, the integration of chiropractic will be facilitated by the
VHA’s National Director of Chiropractic Services, Anthony J. Lisi, DC, chief
of chiropractic at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, and associate professor
of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport, Conn. Nationally,
Chiropractic Care Services is part of the Rehabilitation Services Strategic
Healthcare Group, within the Office of Patient Care Services. The program is
backed by a highly committed group of chiropractors working at VHA facilities
across the country. The
VHA employs a primary care provider model in which patients access all specialty
clinics via referral from primary care or from another specialty clinic. This
fosters a significant amount of collaboration between the chiropractor and other
providers, and facilitates communication for the best possible comprehensive
care for patients. The
chiropractic program’s ongoing commitment to quality improvement also includes
research leading to improved function, health, and quality of life for veterans. Surf
